JEFFREY KRAUSE, PRINCIPAL
Jeffrey Krause is a founder of Blacksquare and leads advanced application development, dynamic data integration, and all aspects of high-end code production. Jeffrey has pioneered work on the web since 1994 and is a leading expert in bridging the technical and design worlds. Jeffrey has a BArch from the University of Southern California and a SMArchS in Design & Computation from MIT. His work is published in books, journals, and magazineds including Architecture, Japan Architect, GA Houses, Envisioning Cyberspace, Architectural InfoServer, The Digital Architect, Agent Generated Architecture, and Programming Web Components. JULIA OGRYDZIAK, PRINCIPAL
Julia is a founder of Blacksquare, heading up the design group. Her clients include Bank of America, News Corp., Fox Studios, The GAP, Microsoft, NOAA, Peoplesoft, PRTM, William’s Sonoma, and Pottery Barn Kids. She has received 4 international Webby Awards and the Vera List Prize, and garnered media attention nationwide, from PC Mag, MSNBC, ABC News, AOL, USAToday, to Wired. Her digital work has been exhibited at MOMA in New York, and she is a published author in web technologies. She holds a Masters of Design Degree with Distinction from the Harvard Design School as well as physics and music degrees from MIT where she was a researcher at the MIT Media Lab. HAYLEY DURACK, STUDIO MANAGER
A recent export from Sydney, Hayley's creative flair and amusing Aussie accent are an integral part of Blacksquare. Hayley's last job was as a photographer and studio manager at one of Australia's top photography studios, where her work included overseas assignments in Zambia, Sri Lanka and New Zealand. Her images have won several gold and silver awards from the Australian Institute of Professional Photography. Hayley holds a Bachelors in Industrial Design and a Graduate Diploma in Set and Costume Design from Australia's Victorian College of the Arts. She continues to work as a freelance photographer.
CHRISTINE MEHR,
ADMINISTRATION ASSISTANT
Raised in Omaha,
Christine’s quest for unique experiences found her as Queen of New Orlean’s krewe Bards of Bohemia at 16 years old. She graduated with a BA from Wesleyan University where her favorite areas of study were Black Feminist Thought, Asian American Popular Culture and Critical Theory. Christine enjoys racing people on her bike through the streets of San Francisco- and always makes sure to wear a helmet. Her past experience as legal assistant for several law offices and her passion for New Media Arts and Web 2.0 are smoothly integrated into the dedicated Blacksquare team. Christine also works part time with Planet° Magazine’s Editorial Team and Brava! for Women in the Art’s Literary department.
